Welcome to my year end review , its been a year that has turned my whole entire life on its head, thankfully for the better.
Numbers first, we are just a few visitors shy of 200.000 in 2012, that, to me, is mind boggling, Thank you for your continued support.
2012 started with what is now common knowledge thanks to tv guides with me filming for Channel 4′s Embarrasing Fat Bodys, The Air date is the 7th January 2013, at 9pm (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/embarrassing-fat-bodies/episode-guide/series-2/episode-1)
I had some of my excess skin removed as part of the show, not all and despite rumors, I didn’t have any form of weight loss surgery, that’s surgery for you to lose weight, I had plastic surgery.
I have a series of posts covering the filming, op, the recovery , with the first to go live , just after the show airs next monday, so stay tuned.
The picture I posted with a BAFTA in the background gave everyone a clue
I had promised myself I’d push hard after what was MAJOR MAJOR surgery in order to ride the Great Manchester cycle and despite only having a few weeks worth of training I did myself more than proud.
From there on until the Manchester to Blackpool ride, nothing much happened , I trained hard and times tumbled , I became a much better climber and I was ready for the attempted under 3 hours ride .
Sadly , because of my eating disorder and not being able to fuel properly for such a task, I failed , coming in at 3 hours and 9 mins , Tho I believe that only 3 other riders were quicker than me on the day.
I had planned to do more rides in 2012 , but events were to conspire against me and this would be my last.
I appeared on ITV4′s The Cycle Show, talking about weight loss and cycling in the summer too.

See I had another project to do in 2012, Fixing my Selective Eating Disorder , and fix It I did !!!!
Just 2 weeks after leaving I had started to eat normally , see I was thrown into a situation whereby I had to be in the kitchen , cooking for my daughter and it wasn’t half as scary as I thought , then the smells started to get to me and I started to WANT to try things , then once I did, there was no stopping me, my Selective Eating Disorder diet was mainly Crisps , supplemented with sweets and chocolate, however, I have not eaten one single crisp in 9 and a half weeks. Do I miss it ? not in the slightest.
Then, right at the death of 2012, I had one last project, a North West Air Ambulance Calendar photo shoot
Make sure you buy a copy :0) you’ll get to see the real deal that way.

What does 2013 hold ? Well Im looking at getting back to fitness, beating my eating disorder means that I have been able to stay at a steady goal weight without cycling like a man possessed , but that means I have lost fitness , I want to do 4-6 charity rides and at least one race, maybe 2013 will bring love too, but for now, thats not a priority.
Ohhh yes, I have also filmed for a MAJAOR TV Network in another country , i’ll let you know the air date once we have it, but this is something you REALLY dont want to miss…….

Wow, Gaz!
I didn’t know the details of all you had gone through! The weight loss along with fixing your eating disorder was herculean enough. But the other issues with your abusive ex and becoming a single parent suddenly–what a ride!
I’m sure you’ll figure a way to schedule yourself time or possibly do child-sitter swapping with some good-looking lass who is a single mom who needs to get out for her own exercise program so that you can be on your bike more.
Keep up the good work and stay strong!
Happy New Year!!!

Gaz
Well done gaz, although maybe some things are best private
Not enough men talk about being the victim of domestic violence, I want to raise awareness and thus support for others who are in the situation I used to be in.
It takes a strong willed individual and a lot of motivation to do what you have accomplished. One needs motivation to lose any large amount of weight and being consistent worked very well for you.
