This week has been a week of reflection and looking forward
Of Old and of New
See, I was looking through some old Garmin stats and found quite a few days where my heart rate was well over 200BPM, a glitch ? Maybe but this was when I was REALLY FAT and was on several days, going down over time, as I got fitter and less fatter
Just look at the AVERAGE to know it wasn’t a glitch !
This week I spent it trying to get fit and chasing Strava KOM’s, I got 2 under my belt and a whole host of top 5′s, along with almost 130 miles and over 1200ft of climbing each day, by Friday I was shattered , so I took the short way into work, with tired legs I didn’t want to race, however all the training this week had paid off when I got to work and was greeted by these stats on my Garmin
6.25 Miles in under 19 Mins !!!!!!! not bad for feeling EXHAUSTED …….It spurred me on to add a mile or 2 extra on the way home, not even close to any KOM’s tho as I was totally done.
Keeping Me Sane
When I was off, because of my surgery, I wanted a project to keep me from climbing the walls, I had a full Ultegra Groupset, Bars, Post, Saddle, Wheels , Tyres so figured I’d build a bike,
It cost me virtually nothing to do as I had everything apart from the frame as all the other parts were from the Madone.
I’d say its turned out PRETTY DAMN Nice, Big up to the boys at the A6 Cycle’s for sorting out the wheel bearings though.
So a fully equipped Ultegra bike , for the cost of a Ribble Frame, the idea was to use this as a commuter over the hilly, longer commutes, but the last 2 weeks have taught me that I am fit enough now to use my Single Speed for that (Never thought I would be able to )
So……
We Have Contact:
For years I have been too scared to wear contact lenses added to the issue of having a HIGH prescription AND a bad astigmatism, meant that contacts were out of reach for me for a long time.
Well, not any more
I now have Contact’s, because of how bad my eyes are, these are not 100% right, they are on order though, however, I am loving the difference they make, and of course, now I can wear some really cool Oakley et el Sunglasses.
This weeks update was produced with the background music of “KT Tunstall – Suddenly I See” did you SEE what I did there? :0)
Please Please Give As Much As You Can
Just Giving
Stay Tuned Next Week for my Sharon Stone Pose, The Manchester United VS Manchester City Fan Poses and an Open Letter to owners of Manchester United:

Contacts definitely the way forward for biking I’ve just switched from glasses to lenses after nearly twenty years of glasses and the bonus of cool sunglasses like you say and My first comment on here and just like to say thanks for the inspiration to change my lifestyle
Congratulations on the stat’s and the bike, both look impressive.
However biggest thumbs up for the bravest thing you’ve done – sticking lumps of plastic in your eye’s. Not something I could ever contemplate doing, no matter what the reward. My eldest wears glasses so we got him some Bloc sunglasses that allows you to clip prescription lenses in.
Ride strong!
My eyes are that bad that clip ins etc are not an option
I used to think the same about sticking stuff in my eyes but actually it’s not bad at all and now I prefer to use the contact lenses over glasses
Being fitted for contact lenses was how I met my wife. She was the optician who fitted me for lenses, and my vision suddenly became clear
))
BTW Gaz, what Garmin model do you use?
I use the 800 and had also had the 705
Congratulations on your improved fitness, looks, and background for your picture; cheers from Austin!!!
